Alternate Care Facility

The Exposition Center at Wisconsin State Fair served as Wisconsin’s only Alternate Care Facility for COVID-19 patients. The facility was built in the spring of 2020. This historic collaboration was comprised of an integrated team, including the United States Army Corp of Engineers, FEMA Region V, Governor Evers’ Administration, the Wisconsin National Guard, Wisconsin State Fair Park, Gilbane, Epic and several local sub-contractors.

On October 7, 2020, Governor Evers announced the facility would begin accepting patients the following week. Decommissioning of the facility began on March 19, 2021.
