Re-Opening Plan for the RV Park at the Wisconsin State Fair Park

The RV Park at the Wisconsin State Fair Park has put in place a plan to reopen and/or continue operations for its guests and patrons.

The plan accounts for the safety and well-being of its employees and guests by expanding on the operational segments of RV parks and campgrounds.

Protecting Staff & Campers

Contact-Free Communication and Service

  • Check In Procedures
    • Guests may check in at any time after 2pm on their scheduled arrival date. If an early check in is needed, they must call the RV Park office.
    • To promote social distancing, we have a no-contact check-in process in place. When a guest arrives at the RV Park, they will need to stop at the main office and grab the packet with their name on it out of mailbox labelled “RV Park Arrival Packets”. Inside that packet there will be:
      • A green or blue window tag to hang in your camper
      • A map showing you how to get to your campsite from the office
      • RV Park rules and regulations
      • Rates and cancellation policy
      • Survey and mailing list sign-up letter
      • Emergency weather pamphlet
      • Code for shower and laundry room access
      • COVID-19 related information
    • They will use the map to get to their campsite, and the RV Park staff will take it from there! We will check the lot frequently and check you in when we see that you have arrived.
  • Check Out Procedure
    • Check out is at 12pm on the guests scheduled departure date. We will check the lot at 12pm and check them out when we see that they have departed. There is no need for guests to stop at the office prior to check out.
    • If a late check out is needed, guests must call the RV Park office.

Social Distancing

  • Preventative Measures
    • Signs have been posted throughout the park to remind guests of social distancing guidelines.
    • Max capacity:
      • Laundry Room: No more than 2 people at a time.
      • Shower Rooms: No more than 4 people at a time.
      • Max capacity sign have been posted in these areas.
    • Sneeze guards have been installed in the RV Park office.
    • Payments can only be made over the phone which nearly eliminates all face-to-face contact.
    • Chairs in the laundry room and benches throughout the common areas of the park have been removed to prevent congregation.
    • Staff workstations have been re-arranged to increase the distance between co-workers when more than one employee is working.
    • The office remains closed to the public and the only people that can enter the office are Wisconsin State Fair Park staff.
  • Guidelines
    • A social distance of at least 6 feet must be observed at all times.
    • Groups of ten or more people are not permitted.
  • How it is Enforced
    • Select shower stalls, sinks and hand dryers are closed to ensure social distancing in the shower rooms.
    • Select washing and drying machines are closed to ensure social distancing in the laundry room.
    • Max capacity signs are posted.
  • RV Spacing
    • RV Park staff will strategically assign site numbers to keep new guests at least one campsite away from each other when possible.

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Staff Requirements
    • Face Masks or Cloth Face Coverings: Employees who interact with the public will be required to wear a work appropriate face mask or cloth face covering. Face masks are encouraged, but optional for all other employees.
    • Gloves: Must be worn under propane gloves, when cleaning, and when handling mail, cash, checks, or keys.
    • Agencies will have a supply of appropriate face masks and gloves available for employees and members of the public doing business with the state. Employees are also permitted to wear their own clean, work appropriate face masks.
  • Guest Requirements
    • Under the Milwaukee Cares Mask Ordinance that goes into effect on July 16th, face coverings are required in any indoor public place and when around people that do not live in your household. When outdoors, face coverings must be worm when you are within 6 feet of another person and when around others that are not member of your household. Sick Policy

  • Staff
    • Staff must stay home if they have any symptoms.
    • Staff will be sent home to quarantine if they appear to be ill.
    • Any staff member that has a family member in their home who has COVID-19 cannot come to work.
    • Staff must notify supervisor immediately if they believe they have COVID-19 and seek medical attention and testing.
    • All staff will be notified if a coworker tests positive for COVID-19 and information is available on where to get tested.
  • Guests
    • Any guest that is sick with any symptoms should not use the common areas and should seek medical attention and testing.
    • If a guests suspects that they have COVID-19, or tests positive for COVID-19, they will be required to quarantine in their camper for no less than 14 days or until released by their doctor.
    • If a guests suspects that they have COVID-19, or tests positive for COVID-19, they will lose access to the showers and laundry room. The guest will be given information on where to get tested.
    • If a guest tests positive for COVID-19, they must inform the RV Park Manager immediately.
  • Notification of an Outbreak
    • Guest will be notified if someone at the RV Park tests positive for COVID-19.

Other

  • Hand Sanitizer Stations
    • There are hand sanitizing stations located in the office, both shower rooms, both restrooms and the laundry room.
  • Hand Washing Posters
    • Hand washing posters are displayed in the shower rooms and restrooms to promote healthy habits.
  • Staff Training
    • All staff has been trained on the following policies and procedures:
      • Cleaning, disinfecting, check-in, check-out, mail pick up, propane fills, water fills, social distancing, handwashing, how to use PPE properly, dump station, payment processing, RV spacing.
  • Limited Office Hours
    • The RV Park Office will be staffed Monday-Saturday, 9AM-3PM to assist customers over the phone.

Staff Policies

  • Manager in private office, front desk employee at far west workstation.
  • Each staff member has their own, personal bag of office supplies to use each shift.

Payments

  • We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover.
  • All payments will be taken over the phone and we are not accepting cash payments at this time.

How to reach RV Park staff

  • Guests can reach us by calling the office during office hours at 414-266-7035. They can also email us at rvpark@wistatefair.com.
  • If a guest needs immediate assistance after the office has closed, they can call the emergency after-hours RV Park line. That phone number is at the bottom of the RV Park Rules and Regulation, found in the arrival packet.

Amenities

Shower Rooms

  • Open for RV Park guests with a max capacity of 4 people at a time.
  • Bathroom stall available in the Men’s and Women’s shower rooms.
  • We encourage all guests to use shower in their camper – if equipped.

Bathrooms

  • The bathrooms will remain closed until further notice.
  • We encourage all guests to use the bathroom in their camper – if equipped.

Dump Station and Water Fill Station

  • The dump station and water fill station are available to RV Park guests and the general public by appointment only.
  • To schedule an appointment, call the RV Park office during staffed office hours.
  • Procedure
    • The customer will call the RV Park office when they arrive for their appointment. At this time, the $10 payment will be collected over the phone with a credit card. If the customer is a registered guest at the RV Park, no payment will be collected.
    • The RV Park employee will then put gloves on and put the dump station or water key into the “RV Park Arrivals” mailbox for the customer to retrieve. If the customer needs help finding the dump or water fill station, it will be explained over the phone and the RV Park employee will put a map in the mailbox with the key
    • When the customer is done using the dump or water fill station, they will return the key to the mailbox
    • The RV Park employee will put gloves on, get the key out of the mailbox and spray it with disinfectant prior to putting it back on the key rack
    • The RV Park employee will then disinfect all touch-points (water valve, padlock, hose spout, cap) at the station so it is ready for the next customer

Mail

  • Mail services are available to RV Park guests by appointment only.
  • To schedule an appointment, call the RV Park office during staffed office hours.
  • Procedure
    • The guest will call the RV Park office when they are on their way to the office for their appointment. At this time, the RV Park employee will put their mail in the “RV Park Arrivals” mailbox by the front door.
    • The RV Park employee will watch the mailbox until the mail is collected by the guest.

Propane

  • The propane fill up station is available to RV Park guests and the general public by appointment only.
  • To schedule an appointment, call the RV Park office during staffed office hours.
  • Procedure
    • The customer will call the RV Park office when they arrive for their appointment. The RV Park employee will explain the propane filling procedure and write down the customer’s phone number so they can call to make the payment over the phone.
    • At this time, the RV Park employee will put latex gloves and a face mask on, grab the key and propane gloves and go to the propane filling station.
    • The RV Park employee will then put the propane gloves on over the latex gloves and fill the tank according to federal and state guidelines while maintaining a social distance of 6 feet from the customer at all times.
    • When the tank is done being filled, the RV Park employee will return to the office, spray the key with disinfectant, and call the customer to collect the payment over the phone with a credit card.
    • If the customer would like a receipt, the RV Park employee will put a copy I the “RV Park Arrivals” mailbox for the customer to retrieve.

Laundry Room

  • Open for RV Park guests with a max capacity of 2 people at a time.
  • We encourage guests to use laundry facilities in their camper – if equipped.

Cleaning & Sanitation

Cleaned daily and disinfected at least 3 times per day Monday-Saturday:

Cleaning is done using a CPI Microfiber Kit. More information on the kit is available upon request.

  • Checked and cleaned prior to re-opening.

Staff Training

  • The RV Park staff has been thoroughly trained on the following sanitation-based procedures:
    • Cleaning products, chemicals and equipment
    • Flow-Master pump-less sprayer disinfectant
    • Proper preparation of CPI Microfiber Kit
    • Proper dwell time for chemical and disinfectant
    • Touch points
    • Safety and proper PPE when using chemicals and other cleaning products

Sanitation Logs

  • Posted in each common area (laundry room, shower rooms and office).
  • RV Park employee, WSFP employee, or cleaning company employee will initial the box for the corresponding sanitation that they performed (AM, Mid-Day and PM).
