Youth Expo Exhibitor Spotlight

The Youth Expo Exhibitor Spotlight showcases Wisconsin State Fair youth who would have been in their last year of eligibility to participate in the Youth Expo Contests in 2020.

Showcasing Wisconsin’s youth through performances, style revues, activity stations and project exhibits, Youth Expo Hall highlights youth groups such as the Boys & Girls Club, 4-H, and FFA.

How many years have you participated at Wisconsin State Fair?
3 years

If you could share some advice with a young person in your area (Performance, Clothing or Activity Stations) what would it be?
Continue to be yourself on the pursuit of happiness. This is one of the most difficult times and it is your time to persist.

What has participating at Wisconsin State Fair taught you?
Hard work and dedication are what it is all about.

What motivates you to participate at Wisconsin State Fair?
You are challenged enough that you learn and develop from the programming that is available.

What is your favorite Wisconsin State Fair memory?
Volunteering at the Youth Expo Activity Station and getting to see youth explore the arts and programming that are available to them while also sharing a little more about the Wisconsin State 4-H program!

What is something you do every year at Wisconsin State Fair?
Ride the beautiful WonderFair Wheel and try the amazing food!

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
In the next five years, I hope to have recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and begun my teaching career as an elementary school teacher!

If you could share some advice with a young person in your area (Performance, Clothing or Activity Stations) what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to try new things. Sewing is becoming a lost skill and learning to sew will benefit your life in many ways.

What has participating at Wisconsin State Fair taught you?
I learned leadership skills and was able to gain confidence performing in front of large groups.

What motivates you to participate at Wisconsin State Fair?
I am passionate about 4-H and being able to showcase my talents at the state level/Wisconsin State Fair is exciting for me.

What is your favorite Wisconsin State Fair memory?
I enjoyed every year I was able to participate in Clothing Revue, especially since my mom was an Adult Facilitator and it allowed for quality time together.

What is something you do every year at Wisconsin State Fair?
Every year we make a list of the foods we have to try.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
In five years I will have graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a major in Environmental Engineering.

If you could share some advice with a young person in your area (Performance, Clothing or Activity Stations) what would it be?
Remember to smile and have fun! Put yourself out there and enjoy being with a ton of motivated 4-Hers!

What has participating at Wisconsin State Fair taught you?
It has really demonstrated to me the scope of how much 4-H encompasses and how amazing the 4-H community is.

What is your favorite Wisconsin State Fair memory?
Modeling with everyone else at the fashion revue during our last show.

What is something you do every year at Wisconsin State Fair?
My family and I always get a cream puff.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I will be going on for Library Science after completing a bachelor’s degree in Music/English and pursuing a career as a music librarian.

If you could share some advice with a young person in your area (Performance, Clothing or Activity Stations) what would it be?
Part of being in 4-H means you work smart and not hard. You enter things that you may be working on through school. This way it will just keep getting better and help you grow as a performer.

What has participating at Wisconsin State Fair taught you?
It is a lot of work to get into Wisconsin State Fair because you don’t stop practicing once you get in. You keep practicing so you can improve and get better.

What motivates you to participate at Wisconsin State Fair?
It is the chance to perform and keep improving  as a performer. I enjoy performing for other people and sharing my many talents.

What is your favorite Wisconsin State Fair memory?
My favorite memory is being able to perform and spend the day with my family while having fun.

What is something you do every year at Wisconsin State Fair?
Every year at Wisconsin State Fair I do my part in performing solos, duets, trios, interpretive readings and group musicals. When I am not performing with my sisters my family enjoys exploring the Fair.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I see myself having an Elementary Education degree and hopefully starting to each children after college. I would also like to get a degree in music and performing as I am hoping that I will always continue to have performing arts as a part of my life.

If you could share some advice with a young person in your area (Performance, Clothing or Activity Stations) what would it be?
Performing for the public is always a rewarding experience. Many of the fairgoers have traveled great distances to enjoy Wisconsin State Fair. Try to make their time watching your performance the highlight of their day and leave them with a smile.

What has participating at Wisconsin State Fair taught you?
Participating in Wisconsin State Fair Youth Expo has shown me what a diverse state we have. Performing on the Youth Expo stage, I see and interact with people of all walks of life and cultures.

What motivates you to participate at Wisconsin State Fair?
Showing at Wisconsin State Fair means proudly representing  your county and showcasing your growth in your projects. It is inspiring to see how my entries compare to those from around the state.

What is your favorite Wisconsin State Fair memory?
My favorite memory of Wisconsin State Fair is exploring the fairgrounds with my friends in the 4-H State Drama Company. After performing in the Youth Expo Hall we ride the Sky Glider and dance at the music venues to celebrate our time together.

What is something you do every year at Wisconsin State Fair?
Every year, my family goes to the Wisconsin Products Pavilion after a long day of work and enjoys the local foods. We enjoy the potatoes, cherries, dairy products, and of course, the FFA ice cream stand.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
In the next five years, I will be working to obtain my degree in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Physics at UW-Stout. I hope to build a career that uses my experiences in agriculture, hands-on activities, as well as my love of science and engineering.
